Luca Gillis' best 2025 sports footage edited into a fast-paced run through of the calendar year in sports videography. Sports are about more than just highlights. They’re all about emotion, intensity, and excitement beyond the playing surface. The demo reel showcases how Gillis can turn a two dimensional screen into an immersive experience and how he can combine atmosphere with action to create more value and depth.
Focus: flow, emotion, immersion, action.
This project was a week of action packed selects from two shooters (Bryan Von Shiau & Luca Gillis with advising from Matias De Rada) crafted into a 5 minute weekly short film on site at Camp Winadu. Each episode was planned, shot, and edited within the week, to be aired on site, and shared on social media on Friday nights. Week 4 was my favorite final product. Focus: Intentionality, flow, highlighting emotion and brotherhood.
This is a fast moving and extremely engaging kinetic sizzle. After attending the Formula 1 Emilia-Romana GP with his Sony A7rIV, Luca Gillis created a recap video that wasn't his best editing. He started working for the next couple months, and developed a ton, even learning Davinci Resolve Studio (previously in Premiere Pro). Wanting to do the F1 sizzle better, Gillis brought all of the footage into Davinci near the end of 2025 and started over. Focus: Speed, intensity, flow, sound.
This video is a recap sizzle from the EWU Kalispel Invite for Women's Golf. Luca Gillis created this through his internship with Gonzaga Athletics and was the lead cinematographer and editor on the project. Gillis filmed each shot with intention and patience; from camera motion, to lens and stabilization choice. The project was edited until the perfect flow, pacing, and immersion were created. Focus: Intention, flow, event recap, immersion.
This interview is an amazing combination of ESPN+ Play By Play Announcer, Kyle Sweeney, and Gonzaga legend, Yvonne Ejim. Luca Gillis was the lead cinematographer and editor for this project. The documentary was created as a school project and has NO association with the NCAA, NIL, or any financial partnership. This project and the use of GU facilities was approved by Gonzaga Athletics for educational and individual use. Focus: Framing, depth, highlighting emotion, storytelling.

A cold call to the head coach of Western Washington University's male rugby team brought Luca Gillis to the sidelines for a major D1AA championship battle. The recap edit he created for WWU's team Instagram was an immersive project using rotoscope and many other creative effects. The video has the most engagement on the entire WWU Men's Rugby Instagram page. Focus: Highlight recap, effects, engagement.
