Luca Gillis' best 2025 sports footage edited into a fast-paced run through of the calendar year in sports videography. Sports are about more than just highlights. They’re all about emotion, intensity, and excitement beyond the playing surface. The demo reel showcases how Gillis can turn a two dimensional screen into an immersive experience and how he can combine atmosphere with action to create more value and depth.
Focus: flow, emotion, immersion, action.
This video is a recap sizzle from the EWU Kalispel Invite for Women's Golf. Luca Gillis created this through his internship with Gonzaga Athletics and was the lead cinematographer and editor on the project. Gillis filmed each shot with intention and patience; from camera motion, to lens and stabilization choice. The project was edited until the perfect flow, pacing, and immersion were created. Focus: Intention, flow, event recap, immersion.
This is a fast moving and extremely engaging kinetic sizzle. After attending the Formula 1 Emilia-Romana GP with his Sony A7rIV, Luca Gillis created a recap video that wasn't his best editing. He started working for the next couple months, and developed a ton, even learning Davinci Resolve Studio (previously in Premiere Pro). Wanting to do the F1 sizzle better, Gillis brought all of the footage into Davinci near the end of 2025 and started over. Focus: Speed, intensity, flow, sound.
I filmed and edited this social piece for a photographer to show potential clients his involvement in local arts, and his ability to communicate and deliver high-quality photos.
I created this REEL for a marketing and real estate client, TALBOT group, who is involved in community events such as this summer concert series.
I filmed and edited this project as an intern with Gonzaga University Athletics, combining game highlights and an emotional day for the seniors into a recap sizzle.
I assisted cinematographer and editor, Carson Scallen in creating this tour video for the website of our client, Gonzaga University's Integrated Media Dept.
This project was a week of action packed selects from two shooters (Bryan Von Shiau & Luca Gillis with advising from Matias De Rada) crafted into a 5 minute weekly short film on site at Camp Winadu. Each episode was planned, shot, and edited within the week, to be aired on site, and shared on social media on Friday nights. Week 4 was my favorite final product. Focus: Intentionality, flow, highlighting emotion and brotherhood.
This interview is an amazing combination of ESPN+ Play By Play Announcer, Kyle Sweeney, and Gonzaga legend, Yvonne Ejim. Luca Gillis was the lead cinematographer and editor for this project. The documentary was created as a school project and has NO association with the NCAA, NIL, or any financial partnership. This project and the use of GU facilities was approved by Gonzaga Athletics for educational and individual use. Focus: Framing, depth, highlighting emotion, storytelling.

A cold call to the head coach of Western Washington University's male rugby team brought Luca Gillis to the sidelines for a major D1AA championship battle. The recap edit he created for WWU's team Instagram was an immersive project using rotoscope and many other creative effects. The video has the most engagement on the entire WWU Men's Rugby Instagram page. Focus: Highlight recap, effects, engagement.
Inspired by the works of "The Godfather" and "Goodfellas," this documentary brings a welcome humor and edge to a cinematic directory of Firenze, Italia.
This is Luca Gillis' capstone project for his personal creative journey of the 2024-25 Academic Year. He finished the year by studying abroad at Gonzaga in Florence, filming all of his travel, adventures, and experiences. Focus: Intentionality, flow, highlighting emotion and brotherhood.
Immediately after purchasing a new cinema camera, Luca Gillis realized he needed to cook some oyster mushrooms before they went bad. Wanting to experiment and enjoy his new gear, the filmmaker combined the activities, demonstrating his love for the craft, even when no one was watching. Focus: Creativity, colors, continuity and sequencing.
This school interview project by Luca Gillis was a trial towards the success seen in later projects such as the Yvonne Ejim documentary above. This was the young filmmaker's first time shooting and grading LOG footage, using a gimbal, and lighting an interview with full creative control. The project is on this website as a marker for growth. Focus: Creative control, storytelling, subject emphasis, growth / practice.
